The Physics Today article, “Networks in Motion,” cited a 2010 article published by Buldyrev in Nature, a prestigious science journal. That article, “Catastrophic cascades of failure in interdependent networks,” analyzed interacting network which are subject to cascades of failures, which can result in dramatic real-life situations such as the electrical blackout that affected much of Italy in 2003. Buldyrev is also a leading investigator at the Defense Threat Reduction Agency.
